Life Lessons From Chick Flicks

As Virginia and I sat sucking in all the wonderfulness of 2 chick flicks on Friday night, after enjoying a delicious (and nutritious) dinner of tater tot casserole and roasted veggies, I began to think about how many chick flicks have a really great life lesson hidden underneath all the fluff. And sometimes, if you're lucky, there is more than one lesson to be learned.

So, here's what watching chick flicks has taught me:

Click
1. For good or for ill, your children will follow your example.
2. You only get one chance to do it right. Don't blow it.
3. Make sure you have your priorities straight.
4. Enjoy the now -- even the hard parts.

13 Going on 30
1. Sometimes you get what you want, and it turns out it's not what you need.
2. Don't wish to grow up too fast -- enjoy your childhood.
3. It's better to be nice than popular.

50 First Dates
1. True love is worth the sacrifice.

Just Like Heaven
1. Live.
2. Keep perspective on your priorities.

So, what kind of wisdom for life have you gained through watching chick flicks? See? They aren't just fluff after all!

While you Were Sleeping. Sometimes the person you think you should marry isn't the right guy for you. Mr. N was like the one guy I dated who I though, "Yeah, I'm not going to marry this guy..." It just goes to show you what I know. After 4 years of marriage, I still feel that he is pretty much my perfect match.
